چکیده

We thank the editor M. Hashem Pesaran and three anonymous referees for their useful comments. 1 Summary We propose a new method for estimating dynamic panel data models with selection. The method uses backward substitution for the lagged dependent variable, which leads to an estimating equation that requires correcting for contemporaneous selection only. The estimator is valid under relatively weak assumptions about errors and permits avoiding the weak instruments problem associated with differencing. We also propose a simple test for selection bias that is based on the addition of a selection term to the first-difference equation and subsequent testing for significance of this term. The methods are applied to estimating dynamic earnings equations for women.

Bayesian Quantile Regression with Adaptive Lasso Penalty for Dynamic Panel Data

‎Dynamic panel data models include the important part of medicine‎, ‎social and economic studies‎. ‎Existence of the lagged dependent variable as an explanatory variable is a sensible trait of these models‎. ‎The estimation problem of these models arises from the correlation between the lagged depended variable and the current disturbance‎. ‎Recently‎, ‎quantile regression to analyze dynamic pa...

Some estimators for dynamic panel data sample selection and switching models

We present estimators for panel data sample selection and switching models where the regression equations are dynamic and it is allowed for the existence of endogenous regressors and correlated individual unobserved heterogeneity. We consider two types of switching models under the names of observed dynamics switching and latent dynamics switching. The dynamic sample selection model implicitly ...

The Effect of Corruption on Shadow Economy: An Empirical Analysis Based on Panel Data

Quite often shadow economy (SE) and corruption are seen as "twins", which need each other or fight against each other and theoretically can be either complements or substitutes. Therefore, the relationship between SE and corruption has been a controversial and polemical issue and in the spotlight of a remarkable collection of economists and social researchers. The main objective of this study ...

Adaptive Elastic Net GMM Estimator with Many Invalid Moment Conditions: A Simultaneous Model and Moment Selection

This paper develops an adaptive elastic-net GMM estimator with many possibly invalid moment conditions. We allow for the number of structural parameters (p0) as well as the number of moment conditions increasing with the sample size (n). The new estimator conducts simultaneous model and moment selection. We estimate the structural parameters along with parameters associated with the invalid mom...

Root-N Consistent Semiparametric Estimators of a Dynamic Panel-Sample-Selection Model

This paper considers the problem of identi…cation and estimation in panel-data sample-selection models with a binary selection rule when the latent equations contain possibly predetermined variables, lags of the dependent variables, and unobserved individual e¤ects. The selection equation contains lags of the dependent variables from both the latent and the selection equations as well as other ...
